The Bell 212 has a versatile utilization on wildland forest fires.
It can carry combinations of 13/14 crews or internal gear to confined helipads. We fly with initial attack crew/gear and the Bambi Bucket stowed internally ready to attack fires. Longlining gear into treed locations on a 150ft longline or use the Bambi Bucket on a longline to get water from confined sources making precision spot/line drops.
Tasman Helicopters is an approved vendor for BC Wildfire Services, ESRD, Government of Saskatchewan, Province of Manitoba Conservation Wildfire, OMNR, SOPFEU.
Tasman Helicopters uses the Bambi Bucket on a 150ft longline or on the belly. The helicopter has an internal foam tank to dispense a foam and water mixture.
HOW FOAM EXTINGUISHES A FLAMMABLE LIQUID FIRE:
The foam blankets the fuel surface smothering the fire.
The foam blanket separates the flames/ignition source from the fuel surface.
The foam blanket suppresses the release of flammable vapors that can mix with air.
The Conair HeliTanks installed on Tasman's Bell 212 helicopters, together with foam and gel injection systems, provide fire agencies with technologically advanced delivery systems for fire suppression. The helicopter can be used as an airtanker to deliver fire retardant or independently with ground crews to fight fires and/or fill relay tanks in both open and forested areas.
Satellite tracking devices installed on fleet aircraft have the capability to send real-time water drop data to facilitate client operations management and direct task monitoring.
Tasman is the STC holder of the tanks.
The tanks are hydraulically powered by the reliable Kawak Aviation Technologies Auxiliary Hyrdaulic System.
