The Bell 212 has a versatile utilization on wildland forest fires.
It can carry combinations of 13/14 crews or internal gear to confined helipads. We fly with initial attack crew/gear and the Bambi Bucket stowed internally ready to attack fires. Longlining gear into treed locations on a 150ft longline or use the Bambi Bucket on a longline to get water from confined sources making precision spot/line drops.
Tasman Helicopters is an approved vendor for BC Wildfire Services, Alberta Wildfire, Government of Saskatchewan, Province of Manitoba Conservation Wildfire, OMNR, SOPFEU.
Tasman Helicopters uses the Bambi Bucket on a 150ft longline or on the belly. The helicopter has an internal foam tank to dispense a foam and water mixture.
HOW FOAM EXTINGUISHES A FLAMMABLE LIQUID FIRE:
The foam blankets the fuel surface smothering the fire.
The foam blanket separates the flames/ignition source from the fuel surface.
The foam blanket suppresses the release of flammable vapours that can mix with air.
